Currently based in Brooklyn New York, Carissa was born in California and received her BFA from San Francisco State University. Diaz has tailored her professional career to support art spaces that collaborate and foster fine artists, including Bay Area visual arts non-profit Root Division. Her painting practice was conceived as a form of self care in hopes of transferring the restorative positivity to the viewer, through attention to the impact of color and shape on mood and well-being.

With her first love of visual art being photography, Diaz produced, styled and photographed creative fashion photoshoots as a teen. With years of painting experience under her belt, she developed a strong foundation in color theory, composition, and learned to pay thoughtful attention to light. Diaz masterfully translates her visual arts skills into creating show-stopping photographs, paintings, and the occasional creative makeup look.

Hello, curious visitor!

Okay - so you read about my professional background but what kind of person will you have staring back at you through a lens?

When i’m not behind my computer editing you can find me buzzing around Brooklyn with a cortado in hand, layering pen and ink in my sketch book, hoarding art supplies and planning my next big creative move in photography. I can’t wait to learn more about you!

What is it like to work with me?

I do everything I can to help clients feel comfortable in front of the camera. This may look like bringing a speaker to our portrait session and letting you play your favorite music, offering a closed set, or giving as little or as much posing direction as you’d like.

A session with me is a safe space for us both to explore, have fun, and be creative!
